1972 cuda grill chrome - 02/23/11 02:45 PM
Help me cuda E BODY OWNERS: The two oval shaped chrome rings in the grill have spikes that slide into metal retainers that are clipped into the plastic of the grill. A couple of the push-in retainers are missing and a couple appear to be worn out. I have been all over the internet and cannot find these retaineres. ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN LEAD ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION?

I have a 73 Cuda so I know exactly what you're talking about. I couldn't find those retainers either so I ended up using push nuts to hold the trim in place. The pic below will give you an idea what I'm talking about. I found pushnuts at a local hardware store.
Hope this helps.

I was missing a couple on my 74 Cuda. I found some clips that have a bigger round base (rather than the rectangular base for the Cuda), and are meant to push in like the Cuda grille clips, and then have a spike pushed through them. So they are basically like the Cuda clips, but designed for a round hole in the grille. I used a pliers to flatten them out so they fit nice and snug in my Cuda grille (without making any grille modifications), and the trim spikes are a perfect fit for them. They work great - I've had them holding the grille trim on since 2004 without a problem. I believe I got them at a NAPA that has a large section of clips and attachment hardware. I might still have the packaging around - if I can find it I'll post a manufacturer and part number for you.
