One thing after another... will it ever end? lol.

1970 dodge coronet... 318, 2bbl, accel super coil, mallory unilite + mallory hyfire 6a box hooked up.

You might have seen my last post of not having any power inside the car unless I was running a wire inside the car. Replaced the ignition switch and did the MAD electrical ammeter bypass and fixed my problem with that.

Good news is the car will crank over more rapidly than before except I'm having a hard start problem when the engine is hot. It will crank over normal then the engine will fire but die ever so suddenly. Sometimes, it has caused a backfire through the carburetor.

Before this was done it would start fine but was very sluggish doing it. Not sure what could be causing this since there was no change in engine timing or carburetor tweaks while I was redoing the wiring.

Any suggestions?

Plug wires in order? Sounds too simple right? I'm guilty of stupid sh!t myself

Hot huh? Fuel line clearance from carb to tank, any heat sources touching? Heat too close to the fuel pump?

Keep us posted

Thanks for the reply.

I'll give that all a check today. As for the fuel line getting too hot, that might be a different story, yesterday it was 75 degrees down to a frigid 28. That's kansas for ya lol.

Well... started it while it was cold and had even more trouble than when it was hot. It acted like it wanted to fire and start up but would suddenly die.

Going to try swapping the old stock style distributor and replace all the mallory ignition components and see if that fixes the issue. But that'll be done later this week when it warms up outside.
