Hemi Hyd Cam Lash 1/2 turn or 1.5 Turns

I have a hyd cam in my 528 and set them with about a half turn of preload and all has been well. I was reading thru my MP Hemi tech book and it says do 1.5 turns with hyd cams? I do have one noisy lifter and wondering if I went 1.5 could I hurt something or hold a valve open?

No it wont hurt anything & certainly could try it & experiment. I would get zero by moving the p rod up & down to check it rather than spinning it then add the preload

Thanks I always do the spin deal but also check for up and down movment as well.

I'd try a bit more and that one lifter may be bad

That lifter has been a little ticky from day one. Now has about 8000 miles on it and will see if a turning the screw a bit more calms it down.

Why not go to 1 full turn first and try that?

I was told by Tim at FHO 1/2 to 3/4 is usually good. Just not something I do all the time and pulling the stagev covers in my tight compartment is not a simple 5 min operation. Will split the difference and go 1.25 and see what happens.

I did 1/2 turn on mine [426 not 528] and all is well
