73 Roadrunner/ Satellite dash pad swap

My 73 Roadrunner dash pad is wasted I bought a cap for it but I think it's too wasted for a cap. My 73 Satellite parts car has a dash pad that's in better shape. How do the dash pads come off?

I don't like the caps, many of them are junk. There are small nuts up inside the pad. You can get at them easy if the dash is off, but if it isn't take the seats out so you can lay on your back and get a deep dish socket up in there. You'll need small arms to get into the instument area.

I was hoping for an easy way to do it but I guess I'll have to stop being lazy and get that dash off Like I should have in the first place. Thank you

It would be easier to try it while in the car before you go to all that trouble.

I have the entire car stripped all interior and column except for the dash. For some reason I'm nervous about taking it out but I need to paint it anyway so I just need to get over it. I'm sure I will have some questions. I am painting the car the beginning of next week and will plan on pulling the dash out later next week.

It is actually easier i think to pull the whole dash to change on the 71-74 b-bodies than to try and replace without the pad without removing the whole thing.

If you're planning on taking out the whole dash - do it before removing the pad. You can take the pad off without removing the whole dash first, but your arms will look like you've been in a fight with the cat! Those nuts in back and on the sides are not fun.

I think its easier to pull the dash too. On '73's, its really not too hard.
