Roller rockers and stock 69 valve covers - 02/11/11 03:29 PM

Doing a BB 400 stroker, I want to use a hydraulic roller cam, and adjustable rockers. What will fit under 69 style valve covers?
Thanks,Dave

X2,...I used factory 70 BB valve covers on my build using Crane's roller rockers, and had to loose the baffles completely for clearance,...no biggy, no problems with anything else, or no running problems/leaks/etc

Thanks, that's what I figured, just wondering if one kind ( stainless, aluminum) or another might clear.

I went w/ Morosos. They are baffled and work fine w/ 1.5 rollers

Comp Cams Pro Magnum roller rockers are pretty low profile especially compared to aluminum rockers. I run them on my SB stroker with .590" lift no problems hitting the stock valve cover baffle.

If the rocker shaft mounts are square on top, you'll have to chamfer the end corners to avoid dimpling the covers. I have 1.6 Harland Sharps & Eddy heads on my 440, and by denting the baffles for clearance and chamfering the rocker stands, the OEM '69 covers fit fine using thick cork gaskets.
