upgrading edelbrock magnum springs?

upgrading edelbrock magnum springs? - 01/24/11 03:34 AM

I have the edelbrock aluminum magnum heads I was planning on putting on my 360 magnum, but some people are saying the heads aren't good out of the box. Are the stock springs any good or is it worth upgrading to bee hives? What springs can I upgrade to for more lift without machining the spring seats? Do ls1 springs fit? I don't even know if I need more lift but if it gets me more power why not.

The springs have to match the cam and lift is the last of many cam specs you need to worry over. The stock springs work ok with many hyd cam lobes(but not all) and even some mild solid lifter cams. More info may help.

the question is what cam are you going to use in the magnum engine?

looking at something like the COMP XR268HR-10? with 1.6 scorpion SBC roller rockers.

bump, put my cam info in. Will that be too radical to keep good fuel mileage? The other cam I like is the KRC 210x which is similar to the comp 262HR-12. These are the spec's for that 206/210 .480/.512 112

The KRC has a bit more lift and 110LSA. I'd be running with 1.7 ford rockers if I used this one to kick the lift up some more.

All things equal, how will having a total lift of .570 vs say .512 affect the engine if I am running out of the box edelbrock heads?
