Drag radial DOT slick help - 01/21/11 03:17 AM

I need some new rear tires and i want to swith over to a DOT tire for the street car class, my car currently has a set of 29.5 10.50 15 M/T slicks on it and i want to stay with that same size or close to it. Im having trouble finding DOTs in the same size and im not sure what size that it would be in a radial? Any help would be great

Either a 295/65-15 or a 315/60-15 would be close. Neither is exactly the same...first is not as wide and second one is a little wider according to M/T's drag radial specs. Both are a small amount taller.

IMO, the "295" size the person above mentioned is going to be your closest match. They're about 29.5" tall w/ a 10" tread width, IIRC.

10 wide would work, i cant really go any wider then a 10.5 cause right now they are really close to rubbing, Any brands better then others? Will they hook has good as slicks?

Thanks

ET Street Radials (actually, any radial slicks or DOT-legal race tires) are more sensitive to chassis setup & tuning than traditional bias-ply slicks. However, they can run as fast, even faster, when the combination is sorted out. I've gone 10.5s @ 126 w/ 1.45 60-fts on the smaller 275/60R15 size. You don't give any current performance #s, so it's hard to say if that's a good indicator or not.
