Need a little help. 1968 Hemi Dart hood scoop location? - 01/16/11 09:34 PM

I'm about ready to mount my scoop on my Hemi Dart and I was wondering where to mount it. I'm looking for the measurement from the back of the scoop to the back of the hood.

Thanks, Troy

From the front edge of the COWL to the back edge of the scoop is 3.5 inches (so you can have room to adjust the hood). Remember that your "hole" needs to be and inch or two inside of that for the scoop to be bolted down and more then that in the front so you can run your spars down. I am running a AAR fiberglass hood and you may be cutting into the frame a bit and that needs to be finnished off as well. I had the motor in and then cut as to fit the cross ram.

Hi Tim
I'm I reading you correctly....you say from the "cowl to the back of the hood scoop is 3 1/2" So what kind of air gap do you have between the cowl and the back of the hood?? My car is not here so I can not measure from my cowl forward.

Thanks, Troy

Sorry I'm late, wathching the F Ball game. About a half inch gap in the cowl-hood, maybe 3/8. I can take more measurements if you want.

Troy, a friend of mine owns an original LO23 car with it's original hood If you need I can run down and take any measurement you need this coming weekend. It's only about 5 minutes from my house
