the 5.7 hemi on my 04 durango threw a rod after 198K. I found a
a low mileage replacement. it's been out tof the vehicle since may 2010 I want to rpe oil it before I crank it over
my question is how?

going to be a challenge. oil pump is eccentric on crank in front of timing chain cover.

Why does that matter. Rig something to pump oil under pressure, or if you're handy, I used to use stuff like MT refrigerant cans, put some oil in there, pressurize with air, and pump oil through the sender port. You can wrench or bump the engine slowly over while you do this

Sound like the old way of priming can't be done. What I would do is install the engine without any spark plugs installed. This will prevent any compression from building. I would then use the engines' atarter to crank the engine until the oil pressure comes up. Least likly way to do damage.
