My 383 .03 over loved the 770 Street Avenger. The heads were ported and polished and it runs like no other 383. I had to increase the fuel line to 3/8" and have not had it back to the track since,

For just a weekend ride I would think a 650 would be fine. Grab a Proform if you can swing it.

383 and .030 over. 770 Street Avenger, vacumn secondarys, 3.55 rear, 3000 stall, TTI headers, mandrel 2-1/2 exhaust, 484 cam and I am VERY Happy with it.

Sounds to me more like you should tune what you have. Pick yourself up a tuning kit from summit and have at it.

""yea i have a 750 dule feed and its just seeming like to much""

Is it a vacuum secondary unit or a DP unit? Both come in dual feel inlets, so I was just curious.

Can you give us the part number?

You might have just what you need already.

Since you have a magnum motor (I assume), the
625 Carter or 650 Holley is fine for what you wnat to do.
As Daytona sugguested fine tune it to how YOUR
DRIVING HABITS are. You never indicated any mods
to the engine, so leave well enough alone with the stock setup! With some carb/ignition tuning, you will be on your way!!

Either will work. Just have to tune it. Nothing is going to work perfect out of the box. You need the right spring, power valve, jets and squirters and the Holley should work great.

My setup is a 383 with XE262H Comp Cam, headers, RPM intake, 3310 Holley 750. I have it dialed in good. Works really well.

box stock universal 600 holley with electric choke will feed it fine and work great for a stock 383 driver.

GOOD choice, just make sure the jetting is correct
for the 383 (MOPAR!) and the choke/accelerator linkages and float/idle settings are all to spec.

X3 on the Holley Street Avenger 770cfm. I pulled a Carter Comp Plus AFB 625cfm off and popped the 770 on and the motor ran smoother, the carb adjusted very well, and the motor loves it.

I was concerned the 770cfm would be too much for my 383, but was pleasantly surprised.

Re: carb size ?? - 10/31/10 07:53 PM

The COMP Plus was jetted for performance for a smaller (270-330)engine-slightly big cam where the 770 is
set for STREET performance with a performance street cam in a small (350) to midsize (400) big block. A EDDY 650? AFB for STREET performance would have worked well too!!

If you have a good flowing exhaust setup and a decent intake, the bigger carbs will work, but there is a mileage penalty. You are getting away
from the cruiser mode. Might as well stick a hotter cam in it to take advantage of the better breathing characteristics!
