68 Barracuda formula s 4 speed trans, please help ID - 10/14/10 01:09 AM

I just bought the 68 383 Barracuda, factory 4speed. The trans still there.

However I couldnt find the VIN stamp on the trans right side. There are only casting number 95639 on the right side and C- 95658 G in tailshaft.

According to "67-74 Barracuda&Challenger Restoration- Paul Herd" , begin 1968 a 4speed 833 has a new style and has VIN stamp on right side pad.

My car build 02/23, is it possible it had earlier 833 4speed? Or probably the A833 reaplced?

Anyone here know 68 383 4speed build before 02/23 and have VIN stamp on right side pad?

Thanks in advance

IIRC the stampings on the 68's were on the bell-housing top right and the same area for the engine. Side pads were '69 and on.

Is the pad there? I had a 68 18-spline case that was stamped with the VIN from the Charger it came out of, but the case is long gone now.

Jim, there are no pad, just casting number.

BTW, I saw you in other thread about Bigblock Kmember, could you please help me ID this Kmember?

I think somebody said that was a slant k-member. It's not a small block or big block, that's for sure.
