How many accessories are you running? I'm running one from Napa, a 60 amp but I also have an aftermarket stereo and an electric fuel pump and cooling fan as well. Never had any issues with it charging either. I think stock was a 45 amp, but having a little more juice helped for me... just don't go overboard with a 100amp. IIRC, there were some posts on here about when upgrading to a much higher amp alternator, there are some changes needed with wiring...

I've used several 60 amp units over thr years. They work good and you can get them pretty cheap at any parts store.

My Coronet is stock, no PW or AC or stereo so I guess I do not need anything big. Thanks for letting me know the stock amp alternator. I will go with the 50 then. Like you say 100 is overkill and I don't want to burn anything out either!

100 amps is never overkill... total output is not send if demand is not required.

you can get a a milliom amps alt but if car demand requires just 60, alt will send 60

the advantage of a 100 amps alt is you'll get allways the juice to the car from alt instead from batt and most important AT IDDLE.

save the right load at iddle and you are SET

my advice... get a 100 AMPS ALT... or 78 amps alt if wanna stock piece ( lates 70s mopar cars )

60 amps alt is great improvement too

you can drive these high output alts on stock wiring if you don't have accesories and if you have a healthy wiring, although some small and easy upgrade will be nice too
