Best way for SB timing chain gasket with oil pan on? - 09/24/10 03:14 PM

changing the timin chain gasket on my 340, i've done this before and remember it bein a pain in the heiny with the oil pan on., that rubber front pan seal always wants to roll around.
Anyone know any tricks to make that rubber oil pan seal stay in place easier? i know, push the rubber nipples into the pan, the bottom middle always seems to wanna roll into the pan when i slide the timing chain cover on!

suggestions!??

Lift the cover into the crank seal some and then get into place front to back then set down on the pan rail. Don't slide it in. Small dab of silicone in the corners where the cover meets the block.

Also be sure and lube the crank seal so it's not dry on start up.
