Bodymen/Painters: I'm in trouble

Finally found someone to paint the interior of my dart. Didn't come out right and mostly my fault.

I've decided to learn and do it myself. Then I'll have only myself to blame. Omni was used, single stage. I need to smooth out some areas with filler and re-paint. Can I rough up the paint and use filler? Do I need bare metal? This is on the interior. If I can rough the paint for filler, what grade sandpaper?

First suggestion is to use some quaility paint, Omni is crap. imo
Yes you can sand and fill on top of paint. I'd rough it up with at least 220 so the filler will stick.

I used Omni SS in my engine bay. Never sprayed anything before and had acceptable results.
Talk to your paint supplier, mine was very helpful with tips and advice.

Do I need to wipe down the area I plan to sand with some kind of cleaner before sanding?

I would hit it with 80 grit and use a 2 component glazing putty unless you need major filling. Use 24 grit to rough the metal so you can guarantee adhesion with regular plastic. Sand, blow off and fill. I never wipe anything unless it's contaminated with oil/grease or something like that.

I agree, try using glazing putty like Icing ,it will save you alot of time feathering
