I am building a stroker 360. I have a 72' 360 block .030 over. I am going to use a 4" stroker crank (does the crank need to be forged?) Edelbrock performer rpm magnum heads and all the magnum parts for the top end to get the pushrod oiling system. Is 500 hp going to be easily obtainable with this setup? will the block handle this hp? It will have roller rockers, and I'm pretty sure someone makes roller tappets for the LA block. Should I be using a Single plain intake for better performance? Thanks in advance

if you plan on upgrading for more power in the future, I'd go with a forged crank...the only cast crank I'd trust is the SCAT one.

500 is probably about the max for untouched eddie magnum heads.

crane, comp, & others make retrofit roller lifters in both hydaulic and mechanical...hydraulics are about $550/set. if you start with an '89-newer block, you can use OEM magnum roller lifters, which can be found new for about $140/set or less...

dual vs. single plane, depends on how big your cam is and what RPM range you're looking at...

I've been running a '73 360 block .030 over for about 3 years now with nitrous pushing around 440 wheel horsepower. She's got about 100 passes on this setup and she's about 340 wheel horsepower in naturally aspirated trim. No signs of anything bad coming from the block from a strength stand-point. I'm running a stock cast crank and untouched edelbrock LA heads too though I did put in all ARP fasteners in the bottom end, including ARP Pro-Waveloc rod bolts, main studs, etc. Good luck!
