not to hijack your post, but my 72 charger came painted 065 pacific blue poly which according to the chart was only available on the colt. It is definitely the factory color. Was the mitsu colors available in special order

Vitamin C wasn't avalable on the A-body in 1972.However,I think you should do what you want with your car.IMHO,if you are restoring the car, then paint it the original color,if not then do what YOU want.

Vitamin C was not available on A Body's in 1972 but would look nice on the car

What does your Charger have as a paint code on the fender tag? And what plant was the car built at?

Other colors, including discontinued ones, could have been special ordered like my pink '71 Charger.

I agree with Nick, what info do you have to support that claim? I'd believe 1971 "GB2" (USA color) which is similar to the "Colt blue" (JAPAN color).

And Nick's car is coded as 148 which is also a Colt color code. Interesting! Another mystery to solve.

I have pulled the interior out and bumpers off and it is obviously the factory color. The car was painted red by the dealership for the owners when new because they didn't like the blue. It has a label affixed by the fender tag stating 72 plymouth ev2 I think it is. I will have to look at the tag when I get home. I have never looked to check it, was just curious when I saw the paint chips above.

Someone was told me you could special order cars with a 999 code...

Choose the option color you want.

I understand is was not a stock color but was go mango (dodge)vitamin c (plymouth) a possible special order color in 1972?

Thanks,

Craig

KISSAlien,
Where are you finding 148 as a Colt color? My brother's '73 440 Charger SE has paint code 426 & a "fleet" VON "K".
I've always "assumed" it was JB9 - "dark blue metallic" a C-body only color, now I don't know (never did)?

Does that car have any original paint on it? You could match it up. On mine the color is really obvious what it is. Some cars the special order color is hard to determine especially if it's been repainted.

My Charger is a Lynch Road car and I'm assuming that Lynch Road didn't use 999 paint codes. Anyone got a '71 or newer Lynch Road car with 999 on the tag?

And "K" is not necessarily a fleet code. Special order cars use that prefix for various reasons. My Charger has it too.

My guess would be that you have A4 Light Gunmetal Poly. Don't be deceived by the 30+ year old chip chart. It's a lot bluer than that chart makes it out to be IMO, or at least the original Gunmetal paint on my '72 Charger is. I can se why you would think it's that Colt color, as that's what the Gunmetal looks like, at least to me.

What color did you decide on? I am thinking about Vitamin C. As a novice I plan to use the B/C method.

I need to find a fender tag I had off a 1973 dart. It was painted vitamin C and had the special order paint code on it from the factory. Hope I can find it before the the night is here.
