Suggestions for Wheel Chocks?

Suggestions for Wheel Chocks? - 08/21/08 04:10 PM

I sometimes have to park my car (4-speed) on a very steep driveway. I always put the parking brake on all the way and keep it in gear when parked.

But, I still worry it will slide as the car is heavy and the driveway is steep.

I have seen some heavy duty wheel chocks at repair shops, but I'm not sure where the average person can get those, or whether they work well on steep slopes?

What do you guys recommend for this type of parking? Any wheel chocks made specifically for cars parked on steep driveways?

Thanks much for any thoughts!

I just use 4x4 chunks about a foot long.

I jack the vehicle up and set the tires in a pair of steel wheels face down. No way the tires will roll out of that big a hole. I don't use jackstands unless the wheels are going to come off.

I have a couple sets of chocks I keep around. I use one in front and one in the rear of the same wheel. Works great so far. They have pull straps to get them out easier

An rv store may have something like that.

OR a place that sells parts for heavy trucks and trailers will for sure.
