I think you got a rare one there, but I'm not sure. The side doors where a option. There's a few out there with doors on the drivers side, but most have them only on the pass side. Hard to tell from the pics, is there any indication on the inside that they were welded up? I say take care of that van and find out more about the doorless ones. Nice score!

Yep, they are often referred to as "no doors" even though they have the front 2 and the rear 2.
If they have doors on both sides they are called "8 doors".
Then you have the no window or "panel" which may or may not have the rear doors windows, the "display" style with windows on the passenger side, and the "window" vans which may also be termed wagon or sportsman.

I saw the drivers side picture of this over on the vintage vans forum. Are you thinking of buying?

I did not think there was such a thing... My brother has one just like that, though with side doors obviously.

Re: A100 Panel van? - 08/22/10 08:39 PM

Yeh Jeremy, the guy I bought it from called it a panel van... Was definitely a work type van, has the visor and arm rest deleted on the passenger side...

Congrats Hate, welcome to the club.
The no doors are pretty rare, but as RodStRace showed you, they can be found from time to time.
I had a "display" type and replaced it for a panel van (but with pass side no window side doors). For practical purposes, the side doors are very useful, but of course, no doors look cooler

Enjoy,
Ran

Gotta wonder how many of those custom painted wagons had the doors filled in. Sweet vans in either case. Have fun and good luck with your rare find. Are you planning on modifying or back to stock cause of rarity?

Well... Rare doesnt alway equal valuable... I bought it with plans of either slamming it, or putting a big block in the rear for a weelie popper... I put it in the classifieds, just in case some purist saw it as the holy grail and had to have it... but no responses yet...

Re: A100 Panel van? - 08/24/10 10:26 PM

Yeah not alot of love for those fellers.
I say go with the big block in back and steer with the rear brakes like Bill Maverick.

Myself I like modified, They were only trucks when they were new and for me that hasn't changed.

I just bought a "Black no doors" 1966 A100 in Indiana...it was used as a "Cemetery Van" and I have the original title that states that. Only has 23,000 original miles with a 170ci 3spd manual. I am putting a 62' aluminum 225 in it and bum around in it until I get my 67' A100 restored. These are the pics of it when I picked it up. Less rust than my 67' Arizona find (and less sun dry out damage). With the smooth sides it lends itself to some cool paint...will post pics when I can afford that "special paint" work.

I'd love an 8 door.
Only saw one once up here and turned it down at the time, but would love one now.

A100-Bubba, looks tasty in the before shots, any of it cleaned up?

Re: A100 Panel van? - 11/29/10 01:00 AM

John, did you notice that his no-door has the correct A100 full wheel covers? At least 3 of them.
Posted By: RodStRace

Re: A100 Panel van? - 11/29/10 02:57 AM

No. I have the wheels I'm going to run, and only 2 or 3 of the right stockers, I think.
Got 2 with the PU, had one spare in the van...
I have 3 of the silver poverty caps, but not a full set.
I'd have to go with the stock rear wheel wells on the van if I went with stock wheels. Doing the flares I plan on for the 15X10 Cragars would look silly with 15X5s.

Some chrome landau irons from a hearse would look just right on that.

Re: A100 Panel van? - 03/12/13 01:51 PM

I'm replying to an almost 3 year old question but perhaps this gets the answer into the system for future use. My 1968 sales brochure says:

"The Dodge A100 vans (both the 90" - and !08" -wheelbase models) are available with 19 different door and window combinations (plus three door choices for the panel vans) to suit your particular needs perfectly."

The page is too large to attach. It shows PANEL VAN with no side doors or windows and glass in the rear doors; VAN with side doors and no glass in the rear doors; VISION VAN-CURBSIDE with curbside doors and five windows on that side only but no glass in the rear doors; and VISION VAN with curb-side doors and five windows on both sides plus windows in the rear doors. No mention is made of an 8-door option.

Thanks for the update and the DODGE marketing names!
I've got a 1968 90" 8-door all window (vision van package).

Here's a small brochure image from Ebay showing the different 108 versions.
I'd also love to hear from the 2 panel van owners in this thread with updates.
