classic auto air: a-body

my wife told me tonight that she wants to start using my duster for taking educational family trips around the southeast. she also told me that before spring, we WILL have AC in the car. so....

what mamma wants, daddy wont complain about.

Ive been eyeballing the classic auto air perfect fit kit for years, and dreaming. now, its become a financial reality. the car its going into is a fully "restored", complete, heat only 1970 duster. I'm using a 69 cuda instrument cluster.360 with indybrock heads and a victor Jr manifold. power steering and power brakes. GM 12SI alternator. TTI headers. Aluminum direct fit radiator, with electric two speed dodge intrepid fans. i don't want to cut the car up in any way, nor do i want to do any major changes to other systems or components. hell, i don't even want to drill any holes if i can help it.

anyway, what I'm asking is this:
1. how high quality is the classic auto air kit? would i be better off with something else?
2. how much of a PITA is it to put in?
3. anyone have any pictures of an install other than the bad ones that are on their site?
4. will their compressor setup fit, and will their whole deal work in my car?

But,,,,,I'm putting a Vintage Air kit on a 1970 Hemi cuda now. I just started this week so I haven't gotten very far yet. but will post updates next week as I go along

I installed 1 in a small block 68 barracuda.my 68 water pump is different than you're 70.You should be fine.I had alot of shimming/spacer issues.Bracket from intake to compressor and belt tensioner.With that intake,You will probably have some issues with that.Most likely have too cut some spacers.next: the condensor is held in place by being sandwiched in place between radiator and rad support.If you're in the factory location,then you'll be fine.all the heater hoses and a.c. lines go in the factory hole of the original blower motor.No cutting required.inside you will have to add vents on the bottom side of dash frame.The controls might get trickey.It uses you're existing heater controls that you modify with micro switchs.that may or may not cause you problems.since you are altered there.The main problem I had inside the car, was some duct work would not fit in place.because it hit the radio.I ended up warming up the plastic with a propane torch and massaging it to fit.overall not a bad kit,not any original body altering for installation.Another thing different is, you will lose factory glove box liner,A much smaller one comes in the kit.you will get a completely new heater/a.c. box with blower motor built in.Been a few years,these are what I remember off the top of my nogen.

I have there kits on both of my cars, BB and SB. Both compressors fit with no problems or shimming. All my pulleys lined up first try on both kits. I have to say, JR knows his Mopars and pulleys.
