077 Spring Question - 08/10/10 03:54 PM

Im running a .528 purple shaft. The cam is broken in already. I want to switch to the DC recommended 077 springs (which I already have new). I have heard bad things about the old mopar springs, however if I use them would there be to much pressure for a street driven car?

There are much better springs on the market for your application. I had a new set of '077's' they were over 435#'s over the nose when I checked them. Dave

120-130 on the seat and 300-320 over the nose,IMO but give Comp Cams or another cam company for their recs. That's what they're in the business for. Dave

Factory spec is 405 at 1.500 but like Dave said, depending on your checking height/RR etc many times you'll find yourself with even higher pressure.

They're overkill, especially considering how gentle the MP lobe profiles are, that the 077 spring was always recommended for. If you call the tech line, recommendations may be slightly different than what is in the catalog or engine book

Dave, the 033 spring comes in at 120 / 310lbs. I have a set of these, what do you think?

Greg; If you are refering to the P3690933 street hemi spring they will probably work. CHECK for coil bind though at max lift. With the .028/.032 valve lash you sould be safe. Check everything first, if you need one spring as a checker before you buy a set shoot me a PM, I've got an extra. Dave
