450 ci sb - 08/10/10 02:18 AM

I have a set of eddy heads that were cnc ported by hughes engines. I am wondering if they would have enough flow for a 450 ci small block.

What (in/ex) flow #'s did they achieve?

Sure, they'll have plenty of flow unless you're planning on spinning the motor very hard. We have a set of Hughes ported Edelbrock heads on a 427 inch small block and it works just great. Peak HP is at 5800 rpm which is perfect for a mean street car. You just have to put the right gear in the back end and then enjoy the torque curve.

My next ? is
I have a 416 in my car with these heads on and it dynoed at just under 600hp and 550 torque. Hp at 6100 and tq at 4600.
Will I see much more by going to the 450 or am I at the top. I am running 10.6 cr and would like to stay using 92 octane pump gas.

Not to high-jack here but is a 450 C.I small based on a chrysler production block or is that aftermarket??

I think that its done with the MP R3 block.

If you use the same cam and heads then the HP number will stay basically the same when you increase displacement. The torque number will go up but it will come in at an earlier RPM. Net effect is the HP number stays about the same but occurs at a little less RPM.

may not see much more HP, but you should see about 8-9% more torque. I'd guess on the same dyno it'll be ~620hp max and about 600 tq, with peaks about 3-400 RPM lower than you saw on the smaller motor.
