Try looking here for the bellhousing, or buy one from keisler

The problems with A bodies is having to cut up the cross member/ floor. I can't say whether the trans you have will fit or not.

My advice is to have an OE bell machined by Keisler. Quicktime bells are way off, and have no starter support either..

My best advice Robert, if your skilled/equipped to machine/fabricate the trany case and assorted parts,....then go for it,.....the Ford tranny will require mods to the case, to get it in the A body....or mods to the floor and torsion crossmember to fit the Ford tranny unmodified, shifter location on the Ford will be rearward, way rearward, if that dosen't matter,.....Keisler has a lower cost T-45 Transmission kit (5spd- from 375-425 ft lb units) avaliable starting at approx $1400 up should you want to install a fitted, new transmission

here's a Keisler A body install of a TKO 600 in a 69 Dart with the floor removed

Which tremec transmission are you getting from the donor ford. If it's a TKO, Hurst sells a new small block bell housing with the required roller pilot bearing to adapt the Tremec TKO series to the small block mopars. As stated you can cut the torsion bar cross member if you properly reinforce it with the transmission mount. Check out Hurst's website for what they do.

A friend has An 86 mustang which he was going to donate the trans to my project, but with a little leg work I found this unit is rather weak and I don't know if it can be beefed up. The fab work is no problem for me, this just fell into my lap so I thought it was worth checking on. I may end up going the 4 spd route.

Any input as to if the early Tremec can be beefed up

You might try a later model T5 at least, the world class version was abit stronger. That is what I put into my Aussie Charger behind the Hemi-6 (around 300hp)

A local friend has a '66 Mustang with a T5 in it, and he is getting ready to up grade to a 347 from the 302 it now has, and he found a local trans shop that builds T5's abit apparently and they mentioned about being able to upgrade all the internals to stronger stuff, but it will cost nearly as much as going with a complete stronger Tremec trans from memory

Oh, and I used a run of the mill trans, did not modify it at all to fit. Just did have to and the torsion bar crossmember some at the top, but that was no big deal to me..
