904 shift points and firmness?

904 shift points and firmness? - 07/21/10 02:02 AM

I have a recently rebuilt 904 behind my stock 318.

I went to a lokar kickdown as my linkage was fried. Now I just can't get it to shift right.

My 1-2 is nice and smooth then it holds second forever, if I back off the gas then it bangs into third.

Is my cable too short or too long?

What are good shift points for 1-2 and 2-3 under moderate to hard acceleration on a cruiser?

Thanks

Since the Lokar is a cable it comes in from the back on my car. I had to lengthen it to get it to shift right. Look at your setup and adjust the length to move the throttle pressure arm on the trans less and it will shift sooner.

Less travel on trans lever = shorter shifts ok, what about the very hard 2-3 shift at part throttle with that clear up with less travel as well?

Anyone know where I should set my shift points, its just a cruiser so just trying to keep the trans from blowing up.
