Which way does the lock ring turn on sending unit?

Which way does the lock ring turn to loosen it to take the sending unit out on a '70 Barracuda?

Do you have to replace the gasket everytime?

Not every time...But take a good look at the gasket...If it's expanded,degraded, etc... Just spend the few bucks and snag another..

Check/clean the metal surfaces that contact the gasket on each side. If a new one is needed get one that is the same or nearly the same thickness as the original one
