Questions on '80s vintage Magnums.. - 07/08/10 08:15 PM

I've got one of these for parts donation. Can anyone tell me what body letter they are? (B,L,M, etc) Are the disk brakes usable for anything else? Thanks in advance!

last year of the magnum was '79....they were replaced by the mirada.

magnums are a continuation of the B body (same as a 75-up charger, fury (non-gran), monaco (non-royal), cordoba, etc.

in '79 I believe they changed to an R body designation, which replaced the C's...the R's were just a stretched B platform.

brakes will be 11 3/4" and I'm betting sliding calipers....

rear will be either an 8.25 or 9.25 and will fit any C or '71-up B

You're right Patrick... Thanks. It's a '78. I'm curious about the brakes in particular. It's got the 8 1/4 in itwhich may end up as some frankenstein log mover thing... But the knuckles/discs I'd hate to toss if I can use.

Grab the caliper adapters.

Recheck that. It may be a 9 1/4

Why? What can they be used on?

You can use them to convert to the larger 11.75" rotors if you don't have them.
