Ramcharger with Aftermarket Intake

Ramcharger with Aftermarket Intake - 06/25/10 06:38 PM

Has anyone here run a 70 coronet with the ramcharger and an Edelbrock performer RPM intake? I'm working on a 400/451 stroker for the car and wonder if the 440 air cleaner base would make the whole deal fit with the lower deck height of the B engine.

Someone here knows the answer... Maybe I should take a different tact. Does anyone know what the height difference is between the factory ramcharger air cleaner base for 440's and 383's?

Now.... I have the performer (not rpm) on my '69 N96 equipped 383 SBee. The performer is pretty close to stock height. The height of the RPM is 1.35" taller than the performer. The height of the RB air cleaner base is 1" lower than that of the 383. So, if you use the RPM with the RB air cleaner base, it is .35" taller than that of the stock configuration. Hope this helped more than hindered.

Perfect! That's just what I needed. So we're talking about 3/8 inch. Is there that much clearance/play in the gasket and height of the Ramcharger to accomodate that? I figure there is a bit of play because of engine shake/torquing.

Without knowing for sure it would be a pretty spendy experiment to find out...

Thanks for the response and the great photo!

I know it sits pretty tight on mine. I don't know how far the seal is supposed to compress nor how far it will compress. Been wondering that myself. I just never got a round tuit.
