anyone have a picture of monaco brakes on a "A" body??? - 06/10/10 10:48 PM

we are finishing up putting 11.75 brakes on Jon's duster and the brake hose (where it bolts to the caliper)hits when we turn right(dr side), we have moved the hose to different spots and it still doesn't work, the caliper is mounted towards the front of the car as per the instructions on the BB dart site

"3. Replace Front Spindles with donor set, being careful not to mix up the left and right sides
(calipers to the front, steering arm/balljoint to the rear)"

so I would like to see a picture if any one has one to see how this should look.
also how does the spring clip go for the pin type caliper and pads Thanks in advance. Ron...

The calipers might not fit to the front, it depends on which calipers you are using and what vehicle you are putting them on.

Thanks Andy, could we just swap spindles and mount the calipers to the rear?

also we don't have the tie rods hooked up yet(so the spindles may be going to far) and I moved the braided hoses as close as I could to the spindle and it now clears(by about 1/8"). "but" the caliper just touches the LCA just below the shock, it might not go that far when the tire is on the ground.
its on a 71 duster, don't know what calipers they are, just that they are pin style and the hose comes in from the bottom. Ron...

Put the calipers to the rear. Also it doesn't matter if the tires are on, the stops are the lower spindle bolts and the lower control arm , tires will only come into play if they are too big and hit the frame before you hit the steering stops , like my 69 dart does with F70-14's .

Thanks for the pics Steve, it looks like putting the calipers on the back side would give us more room. are your calipers slider or pin style? Ron...

The back gives you more room. You can shorten sway bar links to get them to work in the front.

Pin style. Like the style with the anti rattle clips you have. You don't need to put those in.

The spring clips around the caliper and hooks to the two pins. The FSM should have a picture.
