The guy has me pinned to a budget, lose the job or give the man what he asked for. I agree, the stroker is the way to go, a little extra work on the block but worth it...

What work on the block?? 5 minutes of grinding on most kits and the 2.20 rod kits need nothing till 520" or so!!!
Don't think anyone sells a stock stroke kit??
maybe best to just find a more competent machinist he don't know nothing bout them strokers you speak of so he wants to stay in his comfort zone!

Call Muscle Motors...I bought my 512 kit from them. I am sure they have a stock kit,too...Mike and Eric were great to deal with!!

Sounds to me like the OP IS The machine shop, and he's trying to provide what the customer wants. Maybe all the customer brought in was a bare block and there is no stock rotating assembly to work with?
anyway, to answer the original question, I'm sure someone is making stock stroke cranks, for various classes of racing where the rules dictate that a stock stroke be used...they just don't openly advertise it because so few people want to spend the same money as a stroker kit, for a stock stroke.
if there isn't anyone making one, then hit the classifieds for a deal on used stuff, even if it needs re-worked. going with a used factory crank that's been re-worked is probably cheaper than buying a new forged crank anyway, especially when comparing stock stroke to stock stroke.

Mancini Racing, Hughes Engines, Bob Mazzolini Racing, IMM, Muscle Motors, etc. can all get you the parts you need.
Or try to find a guy named Harry Holton in Modesto. He is really sharp with engines. I'm sure Harry could tell you how to buy parts for a Chrysler.

Hmmm...Chris Holton from Modesto CA is asking about engines, who also says he's a 3rd generation mechanic in his profile...could he be related to Harry? if so, why the "elementary question" when such an expert is in the family?

My customer wants a 440, not a stroker. I am porting the 915 heads as requested, the core short block has a cast crank so I am starting from scratch.anybody can add cubic inches, aftermarket heads and run fine, I enjoy beating them with orignal looking stuff.....

I would use the cast crank with 915 heads you not going to make 700 hp and cast are good to 600 +.
with lightweight pistons and aftermarket H beam rods will internally balance up nice.
or polish the stock rods resize with new ARP bolts.

Why is it that people just can't answer a freakin' question , the guys wants info on a STOCK STROKE KIT , who gives a rats backside what anyones else opinion is on how SOMEONE ELSE should spend THEIR OWN money .
I'm with Chris , I love it when someone with a smaller engine kicks the crap out of the BLOWHARD with the blah blah blah stroker this ...
