I believe the 1968 GTS are black and the 1969 GTS are red.

No he means there are two different colors of the 68 style GTS emblems. 68 is completely different than 69.

Someone like Rhinodart or 68 Mannix might have some ideas.

It's been kicked around, but I don't know if there is a definitive answer. My PP1 (red) 68 GTS convertible had red emblems, but it really didn't look good being different reds. I painted them black. I'll probably stick with black, especially when I get the black side stripe back on.

Is it possible that the red ones came on cars with the red stripe?

my white 68 gts has black emblems and black stripes on the rear

I don't know, but that's not all. My car was red with a black stripe.
