Six pack linkage question. - 05/17/10 08:32 PM

Just curious, are the outboard linkages supposed to open as you step on the throttle?? is the bolt that ties both outer carb linkages supposed to be tight or lose?? see attachment..

thanks for any help

they are vacuum operated. You can manually open them by pushing on them while the throttle is up. The rods should be adjusted so that the car idles nice while they are not hooked up and once you hook them up the idle should not change.

The idle is just about right, but was wondering when the outer linkages open, if it was done manually by the throttle linkage or by vacuum ??
again thanks for the help

The long slot in the main carb linkage is to allow the end carbs to stay shut, until the certain vacuum signals allow the secondary carbs to open. The adjustments on both end carbs are made so that they will shut carbs once center carb closes totally.
