boiling gas : epilogue - 05/14/10 08:14 PM

A few weeks ago, I posted a question about my Super Bee. Once it warmed up, it stumbled at particular rpms. And, at the end of my drive, I could hear fuel boiling in the carb. Not only was it boiling, but it fumigated the garage with the smell of gas.
A few of you suggested I had a spacer between the carb and the intake to dissipate the heat. I took that advice and bought the kit, installed it, and started the car. First, I have to say I had my doubts. I mean, how could 1/4" make much of a difference? The first thing I noticed was the idle settings were off as well as the fuel mixture screws. Once I dialed these in, everything started working wonderfully. In fact, after making a couple adjustments, the car ran smoother and quieter.
Most importantly, it appears the problem was solved.
So, thanks to those of you who helped. It was a really annoying problem, fixed for about $25.
