Dip Stick Tube Leak - 727 - 05/12/10 10:59 PM

I am trying to beat a leaky dip stick tube. I got a new o ring seal and I am getting ready to put it back together. Do you guys put a little RTV or any sealant around the O Ring or at the base of the transmission or should I just leave it as is. Thanks!!!!

make sure you push it in far enough. Had a leaky dipstick once. swore I had it seated, my old man came along and pushed it in some more, problem solved

Ive always put some ATV on dipsticks.....it just makes it alittle easier especially when dealing with older/cruster tube that have been around awhile...

Also let it sit overnite....

Definately. Put some RTV on the O ring. Don't be shy about it either. A bead of RTV on the outer case will not be seen.

before using the RTV follow std RTV procedure of cleaning the hole/tube (drop the pan if need be to clean it right) w brake kleen then letting the RTV set up overnight

use the mopar blackATF/RTV and let cure over night
