How do I fix the threads on My Alum. Brake Master Cylinder. Do I try to find a bottom tap. Are the thread pipe threads. Thanks

they dont cost much new

I got mine for 14$

its an inverted flare so I think you would have to remove all the guts to get a tap down the hole far enuff

not sure if the inverted flare threds are same as a pipe thred

IMHO,just get another one

I have a used one you can have if you want it also

Inverted flair is a straight thread not a tapered pipe thread.The new alumn.m/c aren't that much for the time and new seals...just my Just be careful,as it is your brakes we are talking about....

Sorry but as cheaply as replacements are this is one thing you don't [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] with. You fix it by replacing it.

if just the first part of the thread is messed up,you might try and take a steel male nut from a brake line,carefully file V grooves in each side,and slowly use it as a tap to straighten out the threads. if its a generic master,buy new...if its a original correct one,try and save it
