putting my motor back together and found that one of the bolts has a hole drilled down through the middle didnt notice it untill it was cleaned up anyone ever see this and where does it go. im thinking passenger side top but not sure please help!!!!!!! thanks ozz

you should be right it should be a through hole to the lifter galley so oil can drip through, do you have the sheet metal drip plate so it will drip on the timing chain, I made one for my 340.

Earlier A engine used 4 bolts, 1 with the hole. Later models only 3 bolts with a tab on the cam retainer for cam chain oiling. The bolt with the hole goes in the lower hole of the retaining plate on the drivers side.

no drip plate dont think it ever had one first time it has been apart may try to make one though thanks ozz

fwiw I'm gonna drill a 1/64 (.015") hole in the mini cup plug (before installing it) in front of the pass horizontle oil gallery then a larger hole in the flat cam plate for a pressurized squirt of oil out onto the chain per the SB stroker handbook.
