Six Pack E Body breather cap question - 08/04/08 09:00 PM
Should the cap in the valve cover have two nipples? Do both the manifold breather hose and the the center carb vent line go to the cap?

ive seen 3 nipple caps with one tube for the air cleaner, one for the carb fuel line vent and one for ???? (fuel line vent maybe?)
but 440 6 bbls have a vapor line that go to the return line.
so a 2 nipple cap seems like it would be right.
heres a bump for you anyways.

Where is the vent on the center carb (1970) suppose to go? It looks like a hose should attach and go where?

on a 3 nipple breather, theres a tube for it.

that port on the carb is the bowl vent.
So youre saying that on a 70, non cal emissions car, there will be only a single nipple breather and that goes to the air cleaner. So I guess the carbs fuel bowl vent is blocked (capped off) on those???

NO! You don't want to cap it off, it's a vent. It's just open to the air. I think a short hose goes on it just to help keep stuff out of there, but the hose doesn't go to anything, it's just open on the other end.

Here you go. This is an original untouched 440+6 1970 'Cuda. It has the California emissions and clearly the three nipple breather. The hose that appears to go nowhere actually goes to the shaker base plate. Hope this helps. Rob

The picture showing the plumbing with the 3 nipples has a mix up in the hose connections. The bowl vent goes to breather , the opposite side PVc valve goes to the bottom of carb {these are switched in the photo} . Good picture though

Hi guys, I see what your saying (if your talking about my photo) and yes, it is very likely they were (obviously) switched. Thanks for the info. I will put them the correct way when the car is restored. Rob
