Power Brake Booster

Power Brake Booster - 04/17/10 02:40 PM

I went to remove the master cylinder from the car and bench bleed it and then re-install it and hook up the brake lines from the MC to the proportioning valve.

However as I unbolted the master cylinder from the brake booster two of the MC mounting studs snapped off the booster.

It is a Midland Ross Power Drum Brake Booster. Can I release the band holding the two sections together and open up the booster forward section from the engine bay and replace the studs??? Meaning I leave the booster attached to the firewall/brake pedal assembly.

Or as I suspect do I have to remove the whole unit and send the thing off to Booster Dewey (again) to have it fixed?

Any pictures of the inside of the booster. The old cartoon images keep popping up in my head where you turn a screw and the unit explodes in a cloud of screws, nuts, springs and gears

The whole unit must be removed. If you loosen that band the whole thing will come apart. Just remove it and replace with a new one and all will be right....

I suspected as much. The booster is completely restored, plated and rebuilt so I do not need a new one. Just need the studs to mount the master cylinder replaced.

I'll call Booster Dewey on Monday.
