upper control arm bushing install problem

upper control arm bushing install problem - 04/13/10 06:14 PM

Hi, I am redoing the front end on a 69 super bee and bought a suspension kit that included polyurethane upper control arm bushings. Problem is they do not appear to fit easily. The upper control arm inside diameter is 1.045 and the bushing outside dia is 1.175, I destroyed one shell trying to press it in. Thought about using a brake cylinder hone to open up the control arms. I think the bushing , which is from energy suspension, measures the same as a factory one, But 0.130 inch difference in size is tough to put together. Any ideas as to what I am missing.
Thx
Al

They sent the wrong bushings. Ran into that once & there's 2 different sizes of them. There's no way they'll fit.

Put them in the freezer for a few days before installing them, the cold will shrink them

Thanks Mike, will do, I used that method with my pilot bushing and did not consider it for this.
