Durango broken leaf spring

Durango broken leaf spring - 04/12/10 07:54 PM

I have a 2000 Durango 4x4, 84,000k. The left rear leaf spring is broken at the very front of the eye loop right were it curves under. I'm replacing it with a new leaf spring assembly. My question is should I replace the right leaf spring assembly as well even though it's fine? Will the rear suspension stance be skewed with one new spring/one original spring? Or is it just a case of when you do brakes or replace shocks, you automatically do them in pairs?

i would imagine at first if you just use one, it'll be a touch skewed..but give it a few weeks and maybe months, the spring will settle and be even with the opposite side.

I was thinking along those lines as well. The Durango doesn't have super high mileage. The remaining right spring isn't sagging and they are not extremely long springs to begin with plus it's a pretty stiff rear suspension. Thanks for your response Mongoo$e.
