best place to get holley carb rebuild

hi, i have a 70 roadrunner with a 383 auto. i would like to get carb rebuild. it doesnt have to look like a show carb,just perform well. does anyone have a reputable place to recommend,thanks

Scott Smith did a great job on my '70 383 carb...highly recommend him!

There a guy here in S. calif who does great work & really specialize in Holley carb- Jennings Dyno in Mission Hills, but you should be able to find someone on the East coast closer to you!

I would take off the bowls and see if it is worth
rebuilding. If there is pitting inside it may
not be worth it. Holleys are not diffucult
by a book and a quality kit and give it a try.

i tried to rebuild the carb. its very clean. at ran well initially,but know it barely idles. i just want it to run like it used to. i attemped to rebuild it due to gas leaking from the o ring that was worn,thanks

Check the float levels & open it up again and see what come undone/loose as you had it good & something changed and you can find what that is yourself which will save you time/money and build your confidence for the next obatacle on down the line. More details on what happened

I was going to have Scott at Harms Automotive restore my D/Dart carb but because I was worried it wouldn't get there, I decided to have All American Carburetors restore it. I hand delivered it, and picked it up, at show that they were attending. They are located in Orange Park, Florida. Haven't put it on the car yet but it looks great!!!!! Very reasonably priced too. After they rebuild a carb, they run it on an engine to make sure they function properly. I plan on the carb for my 64 Belvedere restored by them.

As far as who the "best" is, that all depends on your needs. As mentioned by others, a (BASIC) rebuild of a Holley is not a difficult DIY project, but many of them require more than that, especially if they are really nasty old cores with a rare part# or date codes you are trying to salvage (see pic posted of one I recently took on).

If your carb is beyond a home rebuild job, or you just don't want to spend the time and effort to attempt one, for the average "driver" rebuild job there are carburetor shops in nearly every city in the country that can likely perform an adequate job for you. If you want something detailed to the "nth degree" in show quality OEM details your choices will narrow, it just depends on what you are after. Feel free to contact me if you need further help.

Scott does great work, you could also send it to Holley they do rebuilds, not sure of the quality.

*For the record, believe it or not, Holley is the last place I'd reccomend. I have "Re-Restored" a fair number of them lately, mostly for issues with running, but also for LOTS of improper hardware and plating details (they are near the top in pricing as well).

How true, don't waste your time sending it to Holley-my last customer did that himself & Scott Harms had to fix their mess.....
