Just got my 4.10's installed. The rearend is whining when I let off the gas.Doesn't hardly do it at all when I accelerate. Whats awrong? Pinion depth?

Not enough pinion bearing preload is the usual cause of noise on deceleration.

If you have a crush sleeve you need to use an inch pounds torque wrench when tightening to get the correct drag. If you have shims you might have to remove some.

Usually once the pattern is set trying to change it is fruitless and the noise is there to stay.

I had that problem on a my Camaro after I changed gears and the pinion nut had to be tightened down more. Noise went away. So maybe all you have to do is tighten down your pinion nut somemore.

Can also be caused by the coast pattern off. I have seen some with the drive side good and the coast side off. Depth and backlash can cause a wrong pattern. Ron
