Intake leaking oil?

Intake leaking oil? - 03/22/10 11:46 PM

Oil is getting on my valley pan and is causing my car to smoke pretty bad. I know the heads were milled .040 on the intake side. Should the intake be milled also ? The motor work was done by the previous owner. Is there something I could do with gaskets or permatex? Thanks

I don't wquite understand what you are saying. Is the oil pooling on the valley tin or is it leaking into the chambers. If it is pooling on the valley tin just put some sealer on the intake bolts. The oil is climbing the threads and is quite common as the bolts really go into open passages in the heads.

Are your plugs oil fouled?

Check 4 vacuum leaks,if the heads were milled, sometimes the intake also needs it.Did you have trouble getting the intake bolts in,like the intake bolt holes were higher than the head intake holes. If they were that could be your problem..

The plugs are fouled. When you first start the car it is fine, if you let it idle for about 5 minutes it starts to smoke out of both sides.

The intake bolts start just fine.

If your getting oil in the chambers you might want to use the valley pan with the paper gaskets on both sides of it. Summit part# 1214 for 383 and 1215 for 440.

Are you sure it isn't working down from the valve covers?

Sounds like you will have to remove the intake and reseal, and use a gasket along with the tray as prevously suggested
