My brother put one on an olds 350 and when it ran right it was fast. He spent more time fiddling with it trying to get it to stay in tune than driving it. After a couple weekends of frustration he gave up and put the q-jet back on. They can be found at swap meets pretty cheap nowdays.

Junk in my opinion. Tempermental and a pain in the bee hind.

I used to hang out with a guy who could make one work on a drag car. His 440 altered and the 427 Chevelle he tuned were deadly consistent.

Never seen anyone else who could make one work on the street, or keep them from leaking gas all over.

i put one one a 351 cleveland4v in the early 90s,the throttle response in neutral was superresponsive,BUT when i put it in drive and gave some gas the engine died and i couldnt get it started again with that carb.so a nice cult piece for neutral reving,ha.a friend had one for a while but it didnt work good for him either, something about the carb was sensitive in braking or turning with the car?fun to fiddle around with maybe, but not to drive with.

I have one collecting dust on a shelf. Looks cool but is a race only item and Pain to set up.

I've got one of the earlier ones without the idle set up. It runs so rich at idle that I can't stand behind the car if its running, and it's a pain on the street as it has a stumble that you can't get rid of regardless of which direction you mount it. You can choose where the stumble is- under braking, left turn, right turn- depending on the direction you mount it. I THINK the later ones with the idle set-up may have fixed this.

HOWEVER, in a straight line it is VERY good- almost like fuel injection in that it is always very crisp and the power feels very linear.

I eventually gave up on it for the street. It now serves duty as the go-to carb for engine break-in. It works really great for that- 318 to 440, just stick it on and it runs.

one of the best carbs ever IMO. flat out hauls but, the 850dp I had on was no match for the Predator. the idle kit (which you have) makes it even better.
