Slotted and cross drilled disc brake kits - 03/18/10 08:51 PM

I am trying to decide on a brake kit for my 70 Duster. I am looking for a slotted and cross drilled kit with nice calipers that will clear 15 inch wheels. Any suggestions??

Anyone using this setup....?

DoctorDiff 13" front disc brake kit includes loaded Cobra calipers, billet aluminum caliper brackets, rotors, hubs, bearings, seals, dust caps, stainless flex lines and hardware. All new parts $800

DoctorDiff 10.7" rear disc brake kit includes loaded Cobra calipers with internal parking brake, billet aluminum caliper brackets, rotors, stainless flex lines and hardware. All new parts $625

Baer has what you want. 11 inch rotor so it will clear a 15 inch rim. Slotted and drilled with a PBR caliper. Mounts on a drum brake knuckle.

Cross drilled and slotted...Why? Less surface area, chews up the pad faster and is a weaker rotor. Are you auto-crossing or using a ceramic pad? Just wondering....

go slotted but not drilled unless its a track car.

I got mine from rotorpro's, they have the best prices shipped compared to anyone else (just replacement rotors though.

You can also run the 11.75 kit with Viper calipers. Mancini Racing has this kit for sale. Various vendors offer the Mopar 11.75 rotor drilled and slotted.

That DR diff guy is great. I was one of the first to use his rear disc kit in early 2005. He was great with tech advice. At that time he was working on the Front kit you listed. Dr Diff offered to let me have the front kit to try out on my 70 Charger...FREE ! I was amazed. If I recall, I would have had to pay for them if I kept them on the car, but he was decent enough to trust a stranger to be honest and pay. The man is smart, helpful and his stuff works. For ME, when I encounter a businessman that has integrity like him, I will be loyal for life. His neighbor could take his design and build knock off parts for half the price but I wouldn't care. An honest man beats a bargain every day.

I am going with a 73-later spool type K member. The Viper caliper kit is what I am looking for but had not seen a Viper caliper used with a 11.75 rotor. Thought maybe you had to use a 13" rotor for the Viper caliper.

This car may not get 500 miles a year but for some reason I want cross drilled and slotted rotors?? If I can not go fast, or corner on rails, might as well look that part.

My friend has the Viper caliper swap in his 71 Challenger. He also has the Cordoba 11.75 rotors. To make the swap, he used a 10 inch drum brake knuckles from a late 60s B body.

I used the Dr. Diff 13" crossdrilled slotted kit on my 69 Sat. I already had 17" wheels. I am very happy with its performance, very good kit!

I have a set of cross drilled rotors from Baer and they cracked at the cross drilled holes.

thats common for drilled rotors, which is why I said in my above post that they are not for street use...

Meh... I have them on my '06 M3 and my '05 TL and they are fine... used and abused on the street...

Lots of Mercedes have drilled rotors, and not just the AMG cars.
The difference is in how the rotor is made. Lots of aftermarket cheapie rotors are drilled after casting. Those rotors will crack when abused. The Merciless Bends stuff is cast with the holes. It's a more expensive rotor to cast but they don't crack.

So is there a supplier for Mopar applications that cast these cross drilled rotors?

Highly unlikely. Cost prohibitive, I would imagine.

I have the slotted RotorPro's on both my 1/2 trucks and like them...I didnt really notice a huge difference in braking though, the best bang for the buck was Hawk Ceramic pads though

The 13" front disc brake kit will not fit 15" wheels, but I also offer a couple reasonably priced 11.75" kits that will clear 15" wheels.

Drilled/and/or/slotted/plated rotors are optional on all my kits.

are your brakes single,2,4, or 6 piston calipers?

I offer single piston calipers, 2 piston calipers and 4 piston calipers depending on which size of brake kit you are interested in.

All my 11.75" kits use new, single piston calipers.
