360 Engine mounts

360 Engine mounts - 03/04/10 04:19 AM

I was wondering if spool type mounts on a 360 should both bolt in front of the block bosses, both behind the bosses, or drivers side one way and passenger side the other way. I ask because it seems like no matter what combination I try, I cannot get it to line up right to where I can get the trans. crossmember in. Every time, it looks like swapping one side to the other position will get me the change in angle I need, but it ends up too extreme.

Oh yeah, I am using the Schumacher conversion mounts to use a 360 in a slant 6 K-member in a 74 Dart Sport, if that helps.

I am about to drop a 318 in my /6 swinger with schumacher spool mounts.

They install behind the ears on both sides.

You did re-drill and cut down the drivers side by 1" right?

see instructions-

Don't forget the part that says to install finger tight. They were designed to have a little play in them to get everything lined up before you crank 'em down.

Good luck!

THANK YOU! I got these mounts second hand so I did not have those instructions. Therefore, I had no clue to drill the driver's side mount. Makes sense though, as it did not want to seat properly in the passenger side without being twisted really bad! I'm sure I will have it in there in no time, now. Thanks again!

Cool, I'm pretty new to v8s so I try to help out around here as much as possible when I actually know how. Mostly I ask lots of questions!

Post up some pics about how it goes for you!

Will do. It is in a dirt hobby stock, so it will be a little different than what alot of people are used to seeing on this site I'd imagine.
