What's the best method to clean black gauge faces without damaging them?

I once cleaned a set using damp cotton balls to gently dab the dirt away. A camera lense brush can be used to clean away light dust.

Watch out using water. I had one the the water started to wipe off the letters.

Compressed air? Dab them if you have to. NO RUBBING! you'll smear the lettering. If they're really bad, it's best to send them in for re-silkscreening.

yes and they are very nice!

but, Ive got 200 into it for the new bezel, 100 for new chrome switch covers and the 55 for the decals. not including the clock conversion I did along with polishing the lense and Im going to have to get close to 600 for the completed unit when I get it back together. but it sure will look nice for someone. Ill be posting pics in the parts section when its finished and for sale.
