Summit Torque converters - 02/25/10 08:31 PM
I was looking though Summits web site and they have there own brand of Converters. They have a 3000 stall unit. Has anyone used one of there converters or heard of anything about them.

They're exactly like the grocery supermarket private label. Made by a big manufacturer of that same item but with their own label on it.
I don't know who makes their TC's but on something like that, I wouldn't worry a twit about using their house brand unless I was racing.
But then again, you're shopping based on price so obviously you're not racing.

I have used Summit parts before and probably will continue to do so. I wouldn't buy a converter from them though. Not something to cheap out on. Save up a couple hundred more and purchase one from a reputable converter maker. The Summit may be fine but i personally wouldn't risk it. The proper converter is one of the biggest performance boosts you can do for your car. My cheap converter(GER) liked to crack flexplates. I have a Dynamic 9.5 inch now and couldn't be happier.

I bought a 2500 stall one several years ago. Its currently living behind my 451. I don't remember seeing a brand name stamped on it, but its at least 10 years old.
