64 dodge polara help finding parts - 02/19/10 10:52 AM

recently picked up a 64 dodge 440 I am in need of some advice and searching for some parts. Looking for a hemi hood scoop, the clear lenses that fit on top of the fenders, also want to convert it to disc brakes in the front and was wondering which is the best route to go without spending a fortune this is going to be a driver for me so I want to make it look respectable but not break the bank.

I used a hemi scoop from WS Racing in Ohio on our 64 Plymouth. Ok in quality and price, but needs some work if you want it perfect. The Sled City Fiberglass is probably a better piece.

Not sure on the clear emblems. Try Kraemer (sp?)Automotive.

Disc brakes; any of the kits from PST, Summit, ebay work and are pretty reasonable (they provide new spindles). Some don't have brake hoses.

Also on 64's if you are converting from power brakes to manual (get a dual master cylinder) you will need a new brake pedal. The ratio is different.

I'd leave that scoop on. looks right on those cars. Also I'm not sure but on 66-up B-bodys you can use 73-76 A-body disc's that's what my 70 has. Manual Disc.

I think Bill's Special T's also sells the lenses.

I'd either go with the A-body spindle, rotor and caliper setup or the Wilwood setup. It bolts up really nice to drum spindles but costs around $700.00. It's also quite a bit lighter!

Just find A body 73 up discs. They will bolt on as will later F M and I believ J body discs. Then get a 69 C body master for discs.Only other thing you need is a prop valve. If you find a setup from a disc car use that valve.I have late B body setup on my 65.They are a bit taller than the A body and work fantastic.Try and stay away fro the early discs as the rotors are expensive. If you go with factory discs use ceramic pads.I have them on the 65 and they stop great.Rocky
