Disc brake spindle identification?

Disc brake spindle identification? - 02/15/10 05:21 AM

I have a pair of disc brake spindles that I found in the trunk of a car I bought. Can they be identified by casting numbers? Some numbers are hard to read but this should be pretty close.

Any other way to identify them other than the casting numbers?

A pic is (always) worth a thousand words. Also dimentions (C to C on the spindle holes) and length of the tapered horizontle spindle could possibly help us ID it.

Oops, I measured from the top of the upper ball joint mounting surface to the bottom of the lower ball joint mounting surface. It's right at 9". Sorry for the bad pic. The ruler covers the area and the pic is upside down.

The distance between the ball joint mounting surfaces is 6", outside to outside is 9".
The length of the stub where the wheel bearings go is 4 1/2" from the back of the mounting surface for the inner bearing to the outer tip of the threads.

Well, I can see my knuckles are made different as mine have the lower ball joint attaching point made onto it as opposed to being a separate piece as shown in the article.

I don't know what you have, but they are not Mopar.
Don't look like anything Chrysler Corporation used in the line of brakes on their cars.

I agree. They sort of look GM to me.

What bolt pattern are the discs, that might help narrow it down some

I was thinking the same thing, look like GM to me.
