clutch fan died - 02/14/10 05:51 PM

Does anyone know the new number for the clutch fan. The car is a 68 barracuda 340-s auto ac. Rock auto shows a couple and the number on the original isn't one of them B0775SC. It is a themal one. Thanks

I believe the direct replacements are no longer available and the replacement numbers are actually taller and may not fit behind all radiators

replace the wp too while you are at it.
lost a rad because I didn't know.
the vibration caused by the clutch going out, hurt the bearing on the wp and I lost it a few months later.

The lowest profile ones they make are a jaguar application. I can't recall the part number off the top of my head, but a search on here should reveal the one you want since it's been brought up a bunch over the years.

Check the wp as mentioned.

Thanks for the replies. I found one that I could compare to the old one at advanced auto. It is about 3/8" shorter than the stock one. So it moves the fan that distance away from the radiator. It came with a bushing that adapts the center stub to fit. It is a heavy duty one, and the dia of the unit is bigger than the stock one but fit the original fan fine. It ends up with the fan about 5/8" from my three groove AC damper pulley. Made by Imperial/Hayden part number 215046.

Hayden Part # 2765

Shortest I know of.

Tell the counter person that number, if need be, they can cross it over to their part number.

Thanks for the reply. The one I got above is about as short as I could go. The fan is only about 5/8" from my three groove crank pully.

I always just order up the kit from Mopar Performance.

I had 1 from advanced auto several years ago, on a chevy truck. The clutch itself broke off the shaft, and the fan screwed itself into the radiator. It was about 2 months old and I had to get real ugly with the manager to get a replacement radator that also came from them. I put a flex fan on it from them and it came apart also. It choped the heater hose clean in half as it flung of into the wild blue yonder. I do not buy thinks that have a safety issue from advanced any more.

the short Jag clutch was for early BB b-bodies, IIRC. On my 68 360 b'cuda I used the 5 blade fan and clutch out of a late 80's, early 90's full size van. when used with the early water pump, it puts the fan exactly half in/ half out of the shroud.

if you still have the OEM unit that failed, save it, there is a rebuild service out there.
