B10 Brake Code for 1970 E- Body?

B10 Brake Code for 1970 E- Body? - 02/08/10 07:47 PM

Hi All,
I have been decoding my 1970 Challenger and have been able to decode everything except the "B10" brake code. The online searches I've done come up with no description of that one. I am pretty sure this was a power disc brake front, rear drum model, but would like to confirm.

Is the B10 in the lower right quarter of the tag? If so, its not a brake code, but scheduled production date.

Yes, it is in the bottom right quarter (2nd line from the bottom on the right, preceding a six-digit number - 040849). If so, any idea what that 6 digit code might mean? I had given up on figuring that one out.

I think it is for November. I will be corrected if I am wrong, but I think A is October, B is november and C is December. Then 1 for January, 2 for February, 3 for March.... The factory used numbers 1-9 and letters to cover the whole 12 months of production.

The 6 digits after the S.P.D. is the V.O.N.--Vehicle Order Number...
